Ariana Grande and Social House release 'Boyfriend'
Ariana Grande and Social House have dropped their summer single, ‘Boyfriend’.
The track is a laid back collaboration which details the complications when it comes to defining relationships and fully committing yourself to someone. ‘Boyfriend’ is definitely a late contender for song of the summer and is a relatable release which is sure to hit a nerve with anyone who’s been in a similar situation.
You ain’t my boyfriend (Boyfriend)
And I ain’t your girlfriend (Girlfriend)
But you don’t want me to see nobody else
And I don’t want you to see nobody
Speaking about the track on Twitter, Ariana said: “We wanted to make something uplifting that captures that feeling of being afraid to take the leap & trust, being afraid of being hurt or feeling like you won’t be enough for that person…but also how it feels to have a crippling crush on someone.”
‘Boyfriend’ also comes with a comedic visual which plays on the idea of wanting someone but not being able to have them. Directed by Hannah Lux Davis, the visual sees Ariana and Social House’s Mikey trying to make each other jealous. The video is full of hilarious revenge-fuelled dream sequences including catfights, bow and arrows, the ripping out of hearts and smashing furniture.
