Harrison Ford is now glad his character in Star Wars was never killed off
Harrison Ford has now admitted that he was wrong to ask George Lucas to kill off his character in return of the Jedi.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly he told them that he was more than happy that Hans Solo is alive and well as it allowed him to rejoin the saga 32 years later.
Ford said: ‘I was glad that the character was still alive for me to play in this new iteration.’
Even as late as 2010 Ford was telling the world that he would have preferred it if Han was to join Yoda and Darth Vader in death as he said: ‘As a character, he wasn’t so interesting to me. I thought he should have died in the last one, just to give it some bottom, some gravitas.’
Many did believe that episode six was softened considerably as no good guys died except for Yoda who passes away peacefully in his sleep.
Nothing has changed about Han but Ford has now accepted him: ‘There’s a lot of the rogue still left in Solo. Some things don’t change.’
Ford has made it clear that the character Han has not changed at all but simply evolved as he has aged.
However, he is rumored to die in this film so if this is true Han Solo does not pass away in episode six but seven.
