SDCC 2019: Tom Cruise unveils first 'Top Gun: Maverick' trailer
Tom Cruise paid a surprise visit to San Diego Comic Con on Thursday (July 18) to unveil the highly anticipated first trailer for Top Gun: Maverick.
The actor appeared during Paramount Pictures’ panel to share footage from the movie, which is a sequel to the original 1986 film. With a release date of June 26, 2020, the sequel has been 34 years in the making.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the trailer is an action-packed offering which is bound to thrill fans of the original and movie lovers alike. Armed with a powerful soundtrack, the trailer’s plane stunts are incredibly impressive and we look set to be in for one amazing cinematic experience.
Speaking about the stunts in the movie, Tom said at SDCC: “Everything you see in this film is real. We’re working with the Navy. I wanted to give you an experience of being inside that aircraft.”

Top Gun: Maverick sees Tom Cruise reprise his role as Captain Peter “Maverick” Mitchell. The movie is also set to star Jennifer Connelly, Val Kilmer, Ed Harris, Jon Hamm, Miles Teller, Glen Powell, Manny Jacinto, and Monica Barbaro.
Top Gun: Maverick will fly its way into cinemas on June 26, 2020.
